In this second installment of our series, we delve into the heart of volunteerism, exploring the ongoing opportunities available across various non-profits in our community. From one-time engagements to long-term commitments, there's a multitude of ways to get involved and spread love. Agape Therapeutic Riding

Agape Therapeutic Riding is looking for volunteers in their classes to help their riders - no horse experience necessary! Please go to https://agaperiding.org/volunteer/ to register!

Boys and Girls Club (Shelbyville, Waldron and Morristown)

Whether you help with homework, coach a game, serve as a mentor or teach an art project,

you’ll have the opportunity to build healthy relationships with young people eager for adult guidance, and have a positive impact on their lives. In turn, you will find that spending time with these young people has a positive impact on you as well. Fill out their volunteer application to share your interest(s) and availability.


Girls Inc Shelbyville/Shelby County

Girls Inc Shelbyville/Shelby County has many on-going and one time volunteer opportunities. There are opportunities that are as simple as assisting staff serving snack to assisting in hosting variety of events for their girls. These events typically include the American Girl Tea, the annual Girls Inc. Lock-In, and more! Have skills in facilitation? Assist a program facilitator to implement Girls Inc. programming on a regular basis with girls K-5th grades. This programming focuses on a variety of topics including STEAM, health & nutrition, physical fitness, economic literacy, and leadership. 


Grover Center and Historical Society

From tours, to assisting with accessioning items donated to the Shelby County Historical Society, to helping serve floats every third Saturday in the museum’s “Streets of Old Shelby” display, to offering ideas for future exhibitions, the volunteer base is the core of the museum and regularly contributes to its success.


Meals on Wheels

If you are looking for rewarding volunteer work, Meals on Wheels needs people to help deliver hot meals to home-bound Shelby County residents! If interested, please call: 317-398-4470.


The Salvation Army of Shelbyville, IN

The Salvation Army of Shelbyville, Indiana serves meals to those who need it Monday-Friday. They ask organizations, groups, churches, and private citizens to prepare and serve meals on Saturdays, Sundays, and Federal Holidays. If you would like to help with a few meals or are able to make a quarterly commitment, they’d love to have you on their schedule!


Shelby Senior Services

So much of the assistance Shelby Senior Services provides to the older generation in Shelby County could not be accomplished without the help of volunteers. Volunteers are needed as:

friendly visitors, Family Caregiver Supporters, cook a meal, clean a kitchen, rake leaves, shovel snow, drive seniors to out-of-county medical appointments, get groceries for shut-ins, organize a class at the Senior Center, make check-in calls, AARP Tax-Aide Program, music, and assist with fundraisers.


Shelbyville Parks and Recreation

The Shelbyville Parks Department is always looking for volunteers to help out in many different ways.  If your business, scout group, organization, school or just individually would like to be a volunteer
